Hi everyone! Welcome back to Training for the Trails! I can't believe Run for the Woods is only 4 days away! Let's keep our fingers crossed for excellent weather!
Coach Tim and I had our final training session this Labor Day weekend. He invited me to take part in his YMCA 360 Training class. This 30-minute intense circuit totally kicked my butt - but in a good way! Since it was a holiday weekend there was just one other woman in the class with me, so it was great to have a lot of one-on-one attention from Coach Tim.
He set up a circit that included kettlebells, battle ropes (my favorite!), back extensions, squats with press-ups, weighted running and pull-ups. We performed each exercise for 40 seconds, followed by a 20 second recovery to allow you to get to the next station. After all six stations, we got a rest for one minute. After the first full circuit, Coach Tim made some modifications to include heavier battle ropes and a heavier kettle bell for me -- ugh, thanks (I say that as sarcastically as humanly possible).
We did this rotation of six exercises three times followed by some resistance band work and abs. This took us to the 30 minute mark, but Coach Tim wasn't done!
He followed our circuit with 800m on the rowing machine, 12 flights of stairs and a quick .5 mile run. By that point I was pooped! I never thought I'd be so exhausted after only 45 minutes of work! The next morning I was hurting in places I didn't even know possible!
If you have a chance to check out the 360 Group Trainings at the YMCA, you should go for it!
I have my appointment with my MD about my breathing issues this morning - wish me luck! I'll update as soon as I know anything.
