Greetings all! Welcome to week 3 of Training for the Trails with Coach Tim! Like I mentioned before, due to a scheduling conflict and illness on my part, Coach Tim and I weren't able to meet up this week, but he has done a little 'virtual coaching' for me!
In addition to my weekly spin classes and strength training (I still hate lunges, by the way), I did the mini treadmill hills that Coach Tim suggested [3% incline for 1 minute then 2 minutes flat, 4% for 1 minute then 2 minutes flat 5% for 1 minute then 2 minutes flat, and repeat again from the beginning]. They were NOT easy, but I could definitely feel different muscles working while I was running!
To follow up the mini hills, I decided to head back to Sessions Woods for another hilly run this weekend. Instead of going the usual way around the loop, I opted to start at the end to include more hills and make the run more challenging. I regretted this decision about halfway through, but I pushed on! I finished the super-hilly loop in 37:56 (which included some walking as well as a quick stop for a selfie)!
Based on this time, my goal is now to finish Run for the Woods in 30 minutes. I think it is do-able, but will be tough. I'm ready for the challenge!!
If you haven't already done so, don't forget to sign up to run with me on September 6! Not a runner? No problem! You can still walk or make a donation in my name to CFPA!
